Word No Tobacco Day
World No Tobacco Day is an annual event observed on May 31st to raise awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco use and to promote a tobacco-free lifestyle. The day was established by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 1987 to draw attention to the epidemic of tobacco use and to encourage people to quit smoking. Tobacco use is a leading cause of preventable death worldwide, causing millions of deaths each year due to cancer, heart disease, and other illnesses.
